“Pine Needle Plate” – by Sally Durkee

Size:  7”Diameter x ½”High 

Weaving Level: Beginner      Materials Fee: $35.00

You will learn the split weave stitch using artificial sinew.  Last row will be finished with the fern stitch.  Choose either moose, green or brown fern.   All supplies included, just bring scissors.

“Tissue Basket “  – by Debby Krzyston

Size: 5”W x 6”High

Weaving Level: Beginner     Materials Fee: $20.00

Bring a square tissue box to use as a mold.  You will have your choice of accent colors – navy, green or cranberry.  A decorative braid will complete this basket.

“Remembrance Double Wall” – by Venie Hinson

Size:  10” Diameter x 12”” High

Weaving Level:  All Levels       Materials Fee:  $49.00

Begin with a black walnut double slotted base.  The inside basket is of natural reed with black walnut splint on outside. Side “flowers” are curled horizontally as each row is woven.  Handle is plain, stained black walnut. An optional curled handle embellishment available to try out of class.  Lashing is done in the “cable tie” technique.

“Tulip Gathering” – by Sharon Klusmann

Size:  13” Long x 10” Diameter

Weaving Level:  Intermediate                    Materials Fee:  $36.00

This gathering basket uses a 10”x10” square handle attached into a 6”x10” oval slotted base.  You will learn to triple twine, 4-rod wale in pairs, continuous twill, how to ascend rows to achieve tulip share at the top, along with a rolled rim and decorative flowers and swirls.  Lots to learn and lots of fun.

“Jewelry Basket”by Marlys Sowers

Size:  6”Diameter x 4-1/2”High

Weaving Level:  All Levels       Materials Fee:  $90.00

Begin with tapering reed staves and inserting them into a cherry wood base and weave with cane over a mold. You will make a lid and a bottom for the basket using two different molds.  The rims will be glued on.  Ivory knob will be included.  All the wood turning is done by Jeff Sowers.

“Large Oval Rib” – by Karen Zane

Size:  12-1/2” High x 11”Wide x 14” Long

Weaving Level: Intermediate     Materials Fee: $75.00

The oval rib basket has an oval rim and handle.  It is a sturdy basket with 20 ribs.  Material used is 3.5 mm bleached cane, #2 and #3 round reed.  Trimming, inserting and weaving ribs is the technique used in this class.  Instructions will be given to finish basket at home.

“Flying Geese Basket” –  by Venie Hinson

Size:  16”High x 12”Wide x 9”Deep

Weaving Level:  All Levels             Materials Fee:  $42.00

Inspired by “Flying Geese” border found on old quilts, begin with a solid black walnut slotted base with reed and black walnut overlay spokes.  Work maple in vertically curled rows to create the triangular “flying geese” pattern.  End with a stained black walnut handle and curled double lashing.

“Cross Stitch Snack” – by Sharon Klusmann

Size:  5” High x 12” Diameter

Weaving Level:  Intermediate          Materials Fee:  $20.00

This snack basket has a woven base.  You will learn the technique of cross stitching the center colors and shaping is a key element taught.  You will also learn to add a round reed decorative filler above the rim, which is set off with a colored lasher to add to the beauty of the rim.

“Black & White Lazy Twill Bowl”– by Marlys Sowers

Size:  7”Diameter x 4-1/2”High

Weaving Level:  All Levels              Materials Fee:  $70.00

Students will taper dyed and natural reed staves and insert them into a base and weave the lazy twill pattern with dyed and natural Hamburg cane over a mold.  The rim will be glued on.  The wood will be cherry wood that has been ebonized using India ink.

“Little Rib” –  by Karen Zane

Size:  8””High x 6”Wide x 11” Long

Weaving Level:  Beginner               Materials Fee:  $45.00

This is a hands-on lecture.  Make God’s Eye and learn the importance of framing a rib basket.  Trim and inserting primary and secondary ribs are the focal point.  You will be able to fill in the basket on your own at home.
