WELCOME to the Wolf River Basketry Guild website.  The Wolf River Basketry Guild was formed in Shawano, Wisconsin, in October 1993 to foster the art of making handmade baskets  and promoting this craft in the Northeast Wisconsin area.

The purpose of our guild is to:

  • make baskets

  • have fun with people with the same interest

  • learn from each other

  • gather ideas

  • share patterns

  • motivate and support others

Membership is open to anyone of any weaving level.  A newsletter is published quarterly in January, March, July and October.  One of the benefits of guild membership is receiving registration information on the fall and spring workshops two weeks in advance of the general public.

Meetings are usually held the 4th Monday of each month at 6:30 PM August through November and January through May.  Our Christmas party/basket exchange is held on a Monday evening earlier in December.

The guild sponsors a fall workshop in September. Nationally known instructors share their knowledge and expertise with students in this two-day event. Additionally, basket supply vendors have their wares available to students and the general public.  More information will be posted as it becomes available.

The guild also sponsors a spring workshop for members only. If you wish to join our basketry guild, please go to the membership page. Complete the form and mail it with your check for dues to the guild treasurer.

Guild members participate in one or more special projects during the year, including donated baskets for disadvantaged persons and a basket display at the local library.

This year's Fall Workshop will be Sept. 26-28, 2008
